Underground Railroad
    By: Trevor Bastien

The Underground Railroad was an escape rout for the slaves in the south. The south was not to happy about the fact that slaves were escaping where the North did not care because the north wanted the slaves to be free. The Underground railroad was lead by Harriet Tubman, she is the master mind behind all of the escape slaves and saving thousands of lives. This railroad in other words was a passage to freedom for slaves. The people that help the slaves out are not rewarded, but if they get caught they will have to pay a 1,000$ fine, that back then was a lot of money back then. This is kind of like the fugitive slave act where the north had the right to send slaves back to where they are from. Also Not a lot of people had that kind of money. The Underground Railroad was a huge step to freedom for the slaves and a huge step in the lives we have today lead by the great Harriet Tubman.
